Open position: Production and Operations Engineer

Join us, and let’s create a safer, more connected world together!

Type: Full‑time / on-person

Location: Sao Jose Dos Campos, Brazil

Your Role in the Team:

  • We are seeking a Production Engineer with a solid understanding of mechanical and electronic components, supply chain operations, and hands-on production support. This role blends production planning and procurement responsibilities, ensuring that prototypes and low-volume builds are completed on time and to specification.
  • As part of a multidisciplinary R&D team, you will contribute to the development of new products by delivering high-quality technical solutions that meet international standards. You’ll collaborate with both local and international colleagues and partners.
  • You will be responsible for sourcing materials, components, sub-assemblies, and services needed for prototyping, testing, and small-scale production.
  • This is a hybrid role ideal for someone with both technical background (e.g. mechanical or mechatronic engineering) and strong coordination capabilities (procurement, vendor management, comex).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and manage suppliers of drone components (e.g. motors, sensors, carbon fiber structures, PCB assemblies, avionics hardware, electronics).

  • Initiate and manage RFQs, RFPs, purchase orders, contracts and negotiation terms.
  • Calculate landed cost, tariff implications; propose cost-reduction strategies while maintaining quality.
  • Interface with R&D teams to align on BOMs, lead times, NPI requirements, and dual sourcing
  • Support product launches and transitions from prototype to development stage.
  • Track shipments, manage lead‑time expectations, resolve supply disruptions, and coordinate customs/import documentation (comex).
  • Support demand forecasting and inventory planning to ensure material availability.
  • Monitor and report on supplier KPIs: delivery performance, quality, and responsiveness
  • Assist with compliance for import/export procedures, including customs documentation and certifications.
  • Translate engineering drawings and prototypes into production-ready builds, including BOM validation, work instructions, and assembly process definition.
  • Maintain documentation for low-rate production, including part traceability, test logs, and nonconformance reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, aerospace, materials science) or related technical field— or equivalent experience in procurement or production engineering.

  • Fluent or professional-level English.
  • 3+ years of experience in production or procurement engineering, preferably in R&D, prototyping, or low-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity of manufacturing processes, mechanical components, and electronics assembly.
  • Familiarity with comex (comércio exterior) and the import of technical items into Brazil is a strong plus.
  • Experience with BOMs, supplier management, MRP/ERP systems, and production planning tools.
  • Bonus: Knowledge of drone systems, aerospace components, or precision mechatronics.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with technical purchasing.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, soldering, assembly, or testing of mechanical/electronic assemblies.
  • Experience working in startups or small, dynamic engineering teams.
  • Interest or familiarity with ANAC experimental UAV regulations.

Benefits:

  • Opportunity for career growth in a high‑tech environment aligned with Brazil’s UAV industry.
