About the Position:
The Director of Munitions Engineering will lead the engineering of the large-caliber munitions vertical, encompassing development (R&D/NPI) and engineering support throughout the lifecycle for products such as artillery, rockets, bombs, and mortars. They will be the main technical reference, converting operational needs into robust construction requirements and solutions until release for large-scale production.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the R&D/NPI cycle for large-caliber munitions (concept → design → prototypes → V&V/qualification → production).
- Define and validate technical, operational, and construction requirements, ensuring traceability and architectural consistency.
- Drive technical decisions and reviews, managing risks, V&V plans, and documentation standardization.
- Plan and execute the development roadmap (phases, gates, deliverables), aligned with deadlines, costs, and risks.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team and interface with Programs/PMO, Quality, Industrial, Supply Chain, Compliance, clients, and partners.
- Ensure portfolio sustainability (engineering changes, obsolescence, improvements, and manufacturing/quality support).
Required Skills:
- Senior experience in the development of large-caliber ammunition (artillery, rockets, bombs, and/or mortars).
- Strong command of requirements engineering and decision-making through trade-offs.
- Experience in leading teams and managing engineering deliverables.
- Knowledge of the development roadmap and applicable V&V/qualification processes.
- Advanced English required (written and spoken).
- Executive communication and negotiation skills with multiple stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:
Experience with NPI/industrialization, ramp-up, and interfacing with Manufacturing Engineering. Experience with testing (ballistics, environmental and mechanical) and governance of change/CM (ECR/ECO/CCB).
