About the Opportunity:
Modirum|GESPI is seeking a PMO Director to lead the company’s project management structure, ensuring the efficient and standardized execution of a growing and strategic portfolio of projects in the defense sector.
This position will be responsible for establishing and strengthening project governance, implementing robust methodologies, and ensuring alignment between company initiatives and strategic objectives. The professional will have direct leadership over a team of Project Owners, being responsible for guiding, developing, and ensuring the performance of this group in project execution.
The Director will operate at the executive level, ensuring that projects are delivered with quality, on time, and within budget, while also promoting management excellence, visibility, and data-driven decision-making.
The role requires strong leadership capabilities, a systemic mindset, and experience in environments with high technical and regulatory complexity, as well as the ability to interact with multiple areas, including engineering, operations, quality, and executive leadership.
Your Role in the Team:
As PMO Director, you will be responsible for the strategy, governance, and performance of the company’s project portfolio. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading, structuring, and expanding the corporate PMO, defining its operating model and governance
- Managing and developing the team of Project Owners, ensuring alignment, role clarity, proper prioritization, and high performance in project execution
- Establishing and institutionalizing project management methodologies, standards, and best practices
- Ensuring executive visibility of the portfolio, with clear performance indicators, risks, priorities, and resource allocation
- Overseeing the portfolio of strategic projects
- Partnering with business area leaders to ensure integration between planning and execution
- Implementing and managing governance processes, including committees, decision gates, risk management, and change control
- Ensuring balance between organizational capacity and project demand, supporting strategic resource planning
- Acting on the resolution of critical risks and strategic roadblocks, with clear communication to executive leadership
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives in portfolio management, tools, metrics, and processes
- Representing the PMO in executive forums and, when necessary, with clients and partners
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or related fields
- Experience in project management, with significant exposure to leadership roles (PMO, programs, or portfolio management)
- Proven experience leading project management teams (Project Managers, Project Owners, or equivalent)
- Experience in complex environments, preferably within defense, aerospace, heavy industry, or advanced technology sectors
- Demonstrated track record in implementing or maturing corporate PMOs
- Strong expertise in project governance, portfolio management, methodologies, and management tools
- Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects with high technical complexity
- Advanced stakeholder management skills and ability to make decisions in high-pressure environments
- Excellent executive communication skills and ability to influence across different levels of the organization
- Fluency in English
