Position Summary:

The Director of Quality is responsible for defining, implementing, and leading the factory’s quality strategy, ensuring that products and processes meet the highest standards of the aerospace industry. This role ensures compliance with international standards, government regulations, and customer requirements, while fostering continuous improvement.

Mission: To ensure that all manufacturing processes, services, and products fully comply with the strictest quality standards required by the industry certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategy and Governance
    • Develop, implement, and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001, RBAC21 & PART145, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Lead the strategic planning for the Quality area, defining policies, guidelines, KPIs, and long-term objectives.
    • Ensure integration of the QMS with other corporate systems, including LGPD (Data Protection), Export Control, and Compliance.
    • Represent the company with regulatory authorities (ANAC, FAA, EASA, DCTA-IFI), military authorities, and strategic customers.
  2. Audits and Certifications
    • Plan and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring the maintenance and renewal of critical industry certifications.
    • Direct the resolution of nonconformities identified in audits and ensure the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
    • Establish compliance standards for regulatory requirements and act as a key guardian of international aerospace standards.
  3. Production and Quality Control Management
    • Oversee inspection processes in manufacturing, receiving, and shipping, ensuring the conformity of materials, processes, and finished products.
    • Monitor and validate equipment and measurement devices, ensuring traceability and reliability of controls.
    • Propose improvements in manufacturing processes, methods, equipment, and tooling to increase efficiency and product quality.
    • Development and management of Suppliers on quality aspects
    • Ensure that deadlines, costs, and quality standards in the production process are consistently met.
  4. Continuous Improvement and Innovation
    • Identify opportunities and lead continuous improvement initiatives, applying methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PDCA, FMEA, and 8D problem-solving.
    • Implement and maintain the 5S methodology, both physical and digital, promoting organizational discipline and operational efficiency.
    • Integrate Industry 4.0 concepts into quality management through advanced monitoring systems and digital transformation solutions.
  5. Nonconformity Management
    • Establish robust processes for identifying, analyzing, and resolving nonconforming items across the production chain.
    • Coordinate follow-ups on action plans, document updates, and validation of corrective actions’ effectiveness.
    • Act preventively to reduce risks of failures and ensure aerospace product safety.
  6. Leadership and Team Development
    • Lead and develop the quality team, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and innovation.
  7. Stakeholder and Supplier Relationship Management
    • Conduct technical visits to company plants, customers, and suppliers to ensure alignment and integration across the value chain.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to guarantee compliance with technical and quality standards.
  • Define project scope, objectives, schedules, budgets, and required resources.
  • Monitor project performance, analyze deviations, and provide clear, consistent reporting.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation plans to maintain project continuity and success.
  • Implement and refine project management processes aligned with PMBOK best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure engagement and support.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote operational efficiency.

Key Relationships:

  • Internal: Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, IT, Legal, Compliance, and Executive Leadership Team.
  • External: Regulatory authorities (ANAC, FAA, EASA, DCTA-IFI), key customers, critical suppliers, external auditors, and certification bodies.
